Five Reasons for Worksite Health Promotion Programs

  1. Health Care Costs
Let's start with the obvious. Health care costs are rising at a staggering rate. Preventable illnesses make up approximately 70% of the burden of illness and the associated costs. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

  2. Preventable Illnesses
Many of the leading illnesses are preventable. Preventable factors include: tobacco use, alcohol consumption, sedentary lifestyles, poor nutrition habits and lack of physical exercise.

  3. Longer Work Week
The typical American works 47 hours per week. The ever growing workweek presents a number of additional threats to the health and well-being our your employees. Examples include: stress, fatigue, less family time etc...

  4. Employee Stress Levels are Increasing
78% of Americans describe their jobs as stressful. Increased levels of stress can lead to: accidents, reduced productivity and increased absenteeism.

  5. Workforce Diversity
The workforce has never been as diversified as it is right now. Many work environments offer unique challenges to health and wellness issues. We have to address age, gender and race when we design a well-balanced health promotion program.

Overcoming Five Traditional Mindsets

  1. It Will Cost Too Much
The consequences of employees' poor health habits will be far greater than any investment a company will ever make in the health promotion program. Can your company afford not to have a health promotion program? Occupational Health Solutions can design a custom program to meet your goals and expectations and work within a wide range of budgets for large and small clients.

  2. It Takes Too Much Time
In an age where time is arguably the most valuable commodity, it often makes sense to let health promotion professionals design and manage the program. Many companies find that they are too busy and really do not understand the dynamics involved in delivering a quality health promotion program. Occupational Health Solutions has been designing and managing nothing but worksite health promotion programs since 1993.

  3. Employees Won’t Participate
A poorly designed intervention program will lead to low participation rates. Our experience will take the guesswork out of what will attract and retain employee's participation.

  4. It's None of My Business
In fact, if you provide health insurance coverage and foot the bill for any portion of it, you should be concerned about the preventable things that are influencing your rates. Self-insured groups often have the most to gain or lose by having or not-having a health promotion program. Our mission statement is: "On-Site Health Solutions strives towards the prevention of illness and injury through intervention; promotion of wellness through education and encouragement of lifestyle modifications through instruction."

  5. Health Promotion Programs Don't Work
Worksite wellness is health care reform that works. Isn't about time to let On-Site Health Solutions design a program that will have a greater return-on-investment in your most important asset; your employees and have a positive impact on your bottom line.
