New Covid Vaccine Mandates – September 10, 2021

Federal employees and contractors that work with the government face renewed vaccine mandates and will no longer have the option of regular Covid testing.

Department of Labor to create a new rule requiring any company with more than 100 employees to mandate vaccines for their employees or weekly Covid tests for workers who cite religious or health reasons for not getting vaccinated.

The new rule will be implemented by the Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA. OSHA can issue an emergency temporary standard if it proves that employees are in danger and that the proposed rule can avert that danger. Companies will face a $13,600 penalty per violation of the OSHA rule, though the new rules could take some time to implement and enforce.
