Ring in the new year with your resolutions. Here are 8 great ways to ensure you meet
your new year resolution goals.
-
Set goals that will keep you motivated every day to stick with what you want to accomplish. Something your strongly desire will keep you motivated.
-
Make a pros and cons list to help you find out if this is what you really want.
-
Plan ahead. If you set out your goals and what you need to-do ahead of time you are more likely to do it when time comes.
-
Talk about it with someone. Telling someone else your goals can help you stay on track. They may ask you about how it is going or they may help you stay accountable based on what you told them.
-
Outline your goals. A very good goal is a SMART goal.
-
Specific-simple, significant (who, what, when, where)
-
Measurable-meaningful, motivating (how much, how many)
-
Achievable-attainable (how can you accomplish this goal)
-
Relevant-reasonable, realistic (does this seem worthwhile, is it the right time to do this)
-
Timely-time limited, time sensitive (when will I achieve this)
-
-
Reward yourself with small improvements. If you finally started after a month of saying you’re going to start that is a small improvement, if you are half way to reach your goal, reward yourself.
-
Keep trying. If at first you don’t start off great, keep trying. If you mess up one time, don’t be too hard on yourself, brush it off and try again.
-
Keep track of your progress. If you don’t keep track you won’t be able to know how much, you have improved and you won’t be able to reward your self in-between.
Try to remember these 8 tips when achieving and maintaining your new year’s
resolution. It’s okay to not get it on the first try so keep trying and don’t
get discouraged!
