Sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your
health. Getting enough sleep can help you stay motivated and alert during the
day. Here are a few helpful tips on how to get the best sleep and wake up with
plenty of energy.
Get at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night.
Try laying out everything you need the night before. Pack your bags, lunch, purse, backpack, and lay out your clothes for the next day. This helps you fall asleep faster and sometimes longer because you won’t have to get up and worry about it.
Write down anything you need to do the next day to ensure your mind is clear before laying down.
Schedule a time. Have a set time you go to bed every day and a set time you wake up every morning. Fluctuating sleep times can really affect your mood and how you feel.
Do not oversleep. Sleeping over 9 hours a day can really affect your health. Sometimes this issue can be from other problems such as depression or narcolepsy.
Leave the blue lights. Try to turn off your phone, laptop and TV at least 30 minutes before you go to sleep. The blue lights in our screens decrease melatonin in our bodies not allowing us to get a full night’s rest.
Avoid the caffeine. Many beverages you may drink have caffeine Try avoiding the late afternoon sodas or coffees.
Activity. Get enough exercise or activity during the day to tire yourself out.
Medications. Sometimes drowsiness can be a side effect of your medication. If this is the case, get with your doctor and see if there is a better solution.
